Cool Tech Tips That Will Save You Time

Technology has completely changed the way we get around, and we’re blessed to have the resources we need at our fingertips. Devices like smartphones, tablets, and wearables have taken the place of traditional maps, radios, and watches.

So, let’s celebrate the best technology has to offer: tips that save you time.

Search some in Google with the use of right-click

As technology progresses, Google keeps up—always looking for ways to keep you informed and entertained—and save you time and effort. If you search for “how-to” on nearly any topic, you’ll find the answer you’re looking for, often without opening a new tab. The search engine often presents the answer in a box on the same page where you started your search. And thanks to Google’s universal search feature, you can find an answer to any question, from “how do I make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich” to “how do I change a tire.”

Use Your Mouse Scroll Wheel to Open A New Tab easily.

If you’re tired of using the same computer mouse to navigate the web, the scroll wheel on your system may be the answer to your woes. The scroll wheel allows you to scroll up and down web pages and side to side without moving your hand. It may not sound like much, but it can save you a ton of time.

Use Keyboard Shortcuts

Keyboard shortcuts are a form of a keyboard macro. They are helpful and time-saving because you don’t have to memorize long commands or search around for the right command. They’re also helpful because they’re customizable: you can set them up to perform actions based on whatever context you’re in or which apps you’re using.

Use the Keyboard Spacebar to Scroll Up or Down a page

Technology has quickly become an integral part of everyday life. We’ve become dependent on smartphones and tablets, but a lot of day-to-day stuff gets overlooked as we dive into our devices. One of those things is scrolling: we scroll up and down a page on our smartphones using the spacebar on the numeric keypad. But have you ever been browsing Amazon on your phone, paused on a page, and accidentally scrolled up? You don’t even know you were doing it until you’ve gone halfway through a sentence. Or worse, you scroll down and finish the page, only to realize you left off an article you were really close to reading. Instead of accidentally scrolling up and down, why not use the spacebar to scroll through a document, website, or app meaningfully?

Use a Password Manager to help you log in

Now that most of us have websites, social media accounts, and email accounts, keeping track of passwords can be a headache—especially since many of us use the same passwords across different accounts. It can be a hassle to log in to each site individually to change your password, which, if you’re like me, is saved in a pile of notes scattered about the house. So, why not give password management for websites a try? Did you know that password managers can save you a ton of time?

Remove the bothersome App Notifications

Many of us have phones loaded with apps we use regularly. But did you know that you can get rid of almost all of the application notifications on your phone? By unchecking the notification, you can get rid of the alert that pops up every 5 minutes or so, telling you there is a new notification. The problem gets solved automatically by Apple, Facebook, and other app developers. But, if you uncheck the notification, it will be removed from the phone, saving you a ton of time.

Staying organized can be hard. We have many tasks, lists, and reminders to keep up with, but it’s a constant battle. We’re constantly running late, forgetting something, or forgetting an appointment. But, technology is here to help. With so many new and cool apps, you can stay organized with your phone. You can sync your calendar, to-do list, weather, and more. You can even create checklists or to-do lists. Once you have everything in one place, you can’t forget anything.
