I love fun weekends. For real. I needed a super fun weekend before going back to work. That’s exactly what I got. On Caturday, I got to see Jenni and have her work on me. I got a neat tattoo. Kinda secret right now but I’ll post more later. Hurts like a bitch. Now its time to heal. Ugh. I hate healing. Chilled with her and some other peeps after and had some dinner, played some Rock Band (I got a 565 note streak on one song playing lead guitar - OH SHIT) watched the Skins game (3-0 preseason FUCK YEAH) and read more of my book. Shit is awesome.

Sunday was the ROCKSTAR Mayhem Festival down the road a bit. It was pretty awesome. Lately, I have become more of a fan to see shows at bars and clubs. The big venues are cool, but I really don’t like people that much so it kinda sucks most of the time. We saw Mastodon, Disturbed and Slipknot, and I went over to the second stage to catch Machine Head. They destroyed - as usual - and it was really kewl to see the side-stage crowd getting hardcore into their performance. See my previous post but it sucked cuz Phil collapsed during their second to last song. Hope he’s okay!

Mastodon was tight. I had never seen them before. I really like their style. They were the first band on the main stage so the crowd was not all that large, but it was still sweet. After seeing Machine Head I came back to catch Disturbed. They put on a really good show. This is the second time I have seen them at Nissan Pavilion. The crowd was really into their set. The sun went down and it cooled off a bit. They sounded really good too. Rock!

Slipknot is just brutal. They had a really good set too. Covering all of their albums, including the one coming out next week. I was hoping they would play another new song other than Psychosocial but they didn’t. Ah well. The crowd was going wild. They were fucking loud! And the lighting that they had going on was really kewl. One of the better times I have seen them perform by far.

After all that fun stuff it was time to head back home and get some rest for my first day at work in over two weeks. It was weird, but I really was glad to be back. I really missed my friends there and was excited to get back into the groove all refreshed and ready to crush it. I had over 400 emails. SUCK. Still going thru them… weeee. Of course, no first Monday back from vacation would be complete without a production issue on your channels main page. I really wish our installs went better than they do. Sigh*

Time to float away to dreamland, where most of the time things go my way and I can be happy. I used to not remember my dreams, but I remember them a lot more lately. Not sure if that is a good or bad thing, but it sure does leave a lot to be desired…

Phil (guitarist) from Machine Head just passed out on stage. That was weird. He just fell to the ground. They think he is okay. We will know more soon.

I don’t want my vacation to end. HEHE. It has been so awesome. As it nears the end, I can’t help but look back and think that this has been the best vacation ever. For me anyways. Mostly, I just needed to get the fuck away from Virginia. I had been working heads down for the last few months, busting my ass! Plus, I bet there were a few people that were glad that I was not around. It’s always nice to have people miss you though.

Tuesday was our last day at the beach. Sadly, that was the day that Mother Nature decided to open the jar of shitty weather that had been bottled up during our stay. We went for Cracker Barrel and it started raining - and didn’t stop. Weee. We did some souvenir shopping, finished packing up the room, and loaded the car. I got a bunch of tight new metal albums from bands I have heard of but never was able to find in the record store. \m/ After all that we left around 6 PM and headed for Jacksonville.

My good friend Mike (Paco) lives down there with his wife. We stayed there for the night to get a jump start on the long drive the next morning. We watched some Olympics, got some pizza, and bullshitted for a while. We hit the road the next morning at 6 AM. By leaving from JAX, we were hoping to cut at least 1.5 hours off of the drive. Well, that did not happen.

RAIN! Fucking rain! From Jacksonville to Southern VA. Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina were FUCT. I do not mind rain unless I am driving, especially on the interstate. People fucking suck at driving. Talking on cell phones, abusing the fast lane, not getting out of the way for the crazy truckers. Grr. It drains me having to concentrate that much on other people. Not to mention, the fact that the windshield wipers are hypnotizing at times and could damn near put you to sleep.

While driving through SC we noticed emergency vehicles on the southbound side up a few miles. As we neared, we could see a truck with a trailer hauling a large piece of construction equipment. A back-ho I believe… Anyways, the trucker did not lower the arm on the machine, and it fucking smacked into the bottom of one of the overpass bridges that run across I95. HAHA. D’oh! I bet that dude felt like a dumbass. We counted 15 miles before the line of traffic southbound started to lighten. Sucks to be them.

We ended up driving for 11:45. Close to the time it takes you to get here without shitty weather. Bah. But we made it, safe, and while the sun was still out. Unpacked the car, had a victory beer, and then I loaded my car to head home from my Moms. Got in the door about 7:45. The cats were so EXCITED to see me. It has been the longest I have been away from home. I probly missed them more than anything while I was gone. Meow. *Purr

I picked up the new version of Madden NFL Football down there and got to play that shit when I got home. HDTV is so great. Its hard to imagine the graphics on Mario World for NES back in the day. The new shit is so realistic. Amazing. The new version rocks. Played a few games of that and then downloaded some new songs for Rock Band. They released a metal pack this past week featuring some of my favorite bands from Roadrunner Records. FUCK YEAH! I got to play some Machine Head, Devildriver & Killswitch Engage. Fun times.

Unpacked most of my stuff. Gotta get all my souvenirs in order though so I can start to give them out. I got some pretty neat shit down there. Hope peeps enjoy them. Slept damn good Wednesday night, in my bed, with the cats laying with me. I love that.

Thursday was pretty chill. I met up with my good friend Kristen for lunch (mmm Five Guys), went to see the Body Gallery crew, did some grocery shopping, watched a few episodes of Heroes, played more Madden/Rock Band. I love chillaxing! Had a few friends over late into the night rocking out. Watched some of the Olympics too which have been pretty amazing so far. Michael Phelps is simply amazing. He won his 7th gold metal by .01 seconds. Fucking insane! Go USA!

Friday was a sleep-in day. Woohoo! I started the day off by trying to figure out what to do and got a msg from my buddy Mark that him and his ol’ lady were going to see the new movie “Tropic Thunder.” We met up and watched the flick. OMFG. It was hiiiiiiilarious! The cast was great. I don’t want to spoil it, but one of the characters was the best in the whole movie, and you might not believe who acts the role. Lots of LOLZ from the crowd. I have not had that many “gut-busting” laughs in a long time. Great movie! Jack Black is fucking funny.

After the movie we got dinner and chilled. Watched some TV, had some drinks & good times. When I came home there was a fire alarm going off in the next building. Everyone was standing outside waiting for the Firemen to show up. Apparently someone smelled smoke and just called in to be safe. Don’t think anything came out of it. Later in the night, I was reading and I guess I have a new neighbor above me. FUCKING STOMPS! I was happy when the old guy that I called “Stompy Stomp” moved out… but I dunno if this is just someone just moving in and moving all their heavy shit around, but the stomping is really annoying. Do you have to fucking jump when you walk around? Or walk on you goddamn heels? GRR! I might have to say something if it keeps up. I went to be to it last night at 2 AM and woke up to it this morning. SUCK! However, I bet they are NOT death metal fans and will not enjoy the fucking evil coming from my apartment. MUAHAHAHA! Fuck you bitches.

I get to see Jenni today which means NEW INK! Wahoo. I went to a few shops down in FL and none of them could touch the Body Gallery in terms of cleanliness, friendliness or music selection. They had not heard of the ink that the BG uses and most of them looked like shit holes. Dull and gloomy. Maybe I’m spoiled cuz of the BG, but there was no way I was going to sit in any of those chairs to have them punch a bazillion holes in my skin. No sir. Try again.

My buddy has some free passes for the ROCKSTAR Mayhem Music festival at Nissan Pavilion tomorrow. I don’t have shit to do. Might go check that out. Some pretty tight bands - which I have seen most of… but I still might go to hang with my buddy and check it out since I got nothing better to do. Weeee

Last night was fucking kewl. Doctor Samuels came to chill at the beach with us. It has been a while since I seen him. We swam, puffed cigars at the beach, went and had a phat steak dinner, hit the hot-tub… fucking bonus! We had planned to get up while I was down here and we made it happen!!!

So I’m sitting by the pool reading my book and the weather is fucking perfect AGAIN! Saweeeeet. Its kinda funny tho. Saturday is the day that new peeps come into town down here and fill up the place.

There are totally new faces, new tattoos, new personalities & new accents. This is the first time we have stayed down here for longer than a week. It is pretty neat to see. 95% of the place must be newbs. Heh.

I still hold the record for tattoos and beard mass from what I have seen. Peeps keep givin me props on the beard. Fuck. Yeah!

One thing I find myself shocked at is the amount of moms with fake boobs. Seriously… like 1 of 3 has a job. Zoinks yo…

Fuck yeah. Vacation is just what I needed. To get the hell out of Virginia. To run away from work. To not hear from anyone for 10 days. It has been working out to plan pretty well. The weather has been absolutely perfect the entire week. Low 90’s, partly cloudy, not a damn drop of rain in sight. Some pretty neat heat lightning in the evenings but that is kewl.

Lots of time on the beach, lots of time in the pool. Lots of drinking. Lots of shopping. Lots of reading. Lots of just fucking relaxing. Soooooo nice. I snuck a peak at my work email and things seem to be going smoothly in my absence, which is relieving.

Lots of crazy shit in the news while I’ve been away… Brett Favre (its Fav-ray people) - this missing girl in Florida. Lots of crime on the news down here. Pretty crazy. Most of the talk has been about the weather though. So perfect. Last year it was craptastic. Thankfully this year has been much better!!! I am getting a tan, which is nice. I was able to swim from one end of the pool to the other underwater with just one breath… that was fucking kewl. 2 years after quitting cigz I can do something like that. Pretty sweet.

I have finished Snuff and Choke by Chuck Palahniuk and started “Lamb - the gospel according to Biff - Christ’s childhood pal” by Christoper Moore. It is fucked. Just like the Palahniuk books. Both of those blew my mind. I do love a good mind fuck.

Today was kewl. We went to the beach and found some pretty kewl shells. Then we heard the lifeguard blow his whistle. He was waving two people in because he saw fins in the water. There was a school of dolphins swimming in the shallows. They were fishing. There was a pack of birds behind them that were also feasting. It was neat to see this so close. We counted at least 5 dolphins. Sweet!

Most people are spending their last day by the pool. Not us. We get to stay an extra 4 days, which we have never done before. Its supposed to rain the rest of today and tomorrow, but thats kewl. Need some time out of the sun. hehe. We might go to the race track and might get to see one of my bestest buds. I am going to Jax on Sunday to hang out with a co-worker that lives down here. She is gonna show me the city. NEAT!

Fuck yeah. Vacations rule. Even when you have a lot on your mind, you still seem to find a way to get away from reality. It will be there when I get back. Fuck it.

After a fucked up couple of weeks I finally got to run away to Florida for my summer vacation. Work was insane this week. I guess that is kewl cuz its over now, and I get to party for 10 days without having to worry about it. Well, try to. Hehe.

We launched the new Autos main page Thursday. One of the biggest things we have done this year, which is surprising cuz we have been having a killer year. I think its pretty solid. We pushed it live and have only been notified of a few minor issues so far. No news is good news in my book. It is super hard for me to just walk away from it the day after, however.

I also found out that my team is getting split up a bit. Kinda bummed about that - kinda happy about it. They are going to be moving away from me. Good that the old stompy guy is moving, but shitty that my fellow dev lead is moving away. Sometimes, she’s the only reason I can make it throughh the day. Sigh. They are talking about moving my other engineer down by me which is kewl.

Lots of mixed emotions this week. Not really something I wanted to think about while being away, but it is what it is. I just hope that everything works out for the best - for everyone.

The daily Florida rainstorm is passing and I am about to take my first dip in the ocean, and a swim in le pool. Yay! Also, note that I am buzzing after 1.5 beers. Maybe it was driving, maybe its the beach air.

Fuck you Virginia. I love you, but I am so glad to GTFO!!!!
