One of the funniest people I have ever known lost his life yesterday. George Carlin always made me laugh. His black comedy and political puns were the best. I remember his HBO stand-up specials and how we used to memorize all of the jokes and walk around cussing all the time. Hell, I think I use at least 4 of the 7 dirty words on a daily basis. Shame that he had to go, but he will always be remembered as one of the best!
Carlin’s themes have been known for causing considerable controversy in the general media. His most usual topic was (in his words) humanity’s “bullshit”, which might include murder, genocide, war, rape, corruption, religion and other aspects of human civilization. His delivery frequently treated these subjects in a misanthropic and nihilistic fashion, such as in his statement during the Life is Worth Losing show: “I look at it this way… For centuries now, man has done everything he can to destroy, defile, and interfere with nature: clear-cutting forests, strip-mining mountains, poisoning the atmosphere, over-fishing the oceans, polluting the rivers and lakes, destroying wetlands and aquifers… so when nature strikes back, and smacks him on the head and kicks him in the nuts, I enjoy that. I have absolutely no sympathy for human beings whatsoever. None. And no matter what kind of problem humans are facing, whether it’s natural or man-made, I always hope it gets worse.”
RIP George.

“A B-52 bomber mistakenly loaded with five nuclear warheads flew from Minot Air Force Base, N.D, to Barksdale Air Force Base, La., on Aug. 30, resulting in an Air Force-wide investigation, according to three officers who asked not to be identified because they were not authorized to discuss the incident,” according to the Navy Times.
The B-52 was loaded with Advanced Cruise Missiles, part of a Defense Department effort to decommission 400 of the ACMs. But the nuclear warheads should have been removed at Minot before being transported to Barksdale, the officers said. The missiles were mounted onto the pylons of the bomber’s wings.
Advanced Cruise Missiles carry a W80-1 warhead with a yield of 5 to 150 kilotons and are specifically designed for delivery by B-52 strategic bombers.
Air Force spokesman Lt. Col. Ed Thomas said the transfer was safely conducted and the weapons were in Air Force custody and control at all times. However, the mistake was not discovered until the B-52 landed at Barskdale, which left the warheads unaccounted for during the approximately 3 1/2 hour flight between the two bases, the officers said.
This is incredible. How could something like this happen? These warheads are said to be some of the most “protected” materials in the Armed Forces. I am all for destroying the weapons, but I am just glad that nothing bad happened with this situation. Talk about a blunder…

Okay, I have heard some weird shit in my day, but this is just crazy. Tell me how this can happen!!
TOKYO (Reuters) - A Japanese biker failed to notice his leg had been severed below the knee when he hit a safety barrier, and rode on for 2 km (1.2 miles), leaving a friend to pick up the missing limb.
The 54-year-old office worker was out on his motorcycle with a group of friends in the city of Hamamatsu, west of Tokyo, on Monday, when he was unable to negotiate a curve in the road and bumped into the central barrier, the Mainichi Shimbun said.
He felt excruciating pain, but did not notice that his right leg was missing until he stopped at the next junction, the paper quoted local police as saying.
The man and his leg were taken to hospital, but the limb had been crushed in the collision, the paper said.
I get tattooed a lot… I sometimes cut myself during drunk escapades… and I FEEL that shit. This dude must have been cracked out to not feel that! Dumbass.

Like many young boys I grew up watching the WWF (WWE), WCW, ECW & and other mainstream wrestling divisions. Chris Benoit (aka The Rabid Wolverine, The Crippler, The Canadian Crippler) — was found dead in his home in Fayetteville, Ga. Also discovered in the home were the dead bodies of his wife and 7 year-old son.
Authorities representing the Sheriff’s Department initially had a difficult time entering Benoit’s new Fayetteville home Monday afternoon, which had been guarded by two large German Shepherds roaming freely around the property. Once authorities entered the residence, they quickly located the bodies of Benoit, Nancy and Daniel.
He was one of my favorite wrestling characters ever, and a great athlete. He will be missed.

UPDATE: Many new details of the deaths of the Benoit family have been released.
Pro wrestler Chris Benoit strangled his wife, suffocated his 7-year-old son and placed a Bible next to their bodies before hanging himself with a weight-machine pulley, authorities said Tuesday.
Investigators found anabolic steroids in the house and want to know whether the muscle man nicknamed “The Canadian Crippler” was unhinged by the bodybuilding drugs, which can cause paranoia, depression and explosive outbursts known as “roid rage.”
Authorities offered no motive for the killings, which were spread out over a weekend, and would not discuss Benoit’s state of mind. No suicide note was found.
This is truly heart-breaking. We may never figure out the motive behind what Chris did, but he must have had some kind of reason. What he did was horrible and unimaginable. When I first posted, I knew none of this information. Hearing the news completely shocked me. Regardless of how it happened, him and his family will be missed on this earth. It is just shame that their legacy will be scarred by this tragedy.

There is not much I can say to explain the great time I have had being a part of this website (Neowin.net.) I am not going to give some kind of lame speech, or make anyone whip out some tissues. I will be brief.
The time has come for me to step aside so I can focus on events happening in my real life. As many can clearly tell, I have not been able to dedicate any of my free time to the site at all. My reality has consumed most of my time lately. Any time I do have is being used wisely to get my side work off the ground. I have been doing some consulting, building, and promoting for a couple of websites that I have started work on. This post has actually been delayed for some time. I should have made this announcement sooner but was still clinging on to hope that I could continue my role here at Neowin.
However, that hope has now subsided. I must move on. It is safe to say that I will never forget Neowin. I have loved this place since I first found it. I was given the chance to moderate, and code the site. For that I will be grateful, always. It has just come time for me to go now. I hope that I can stick around as a Neowin Veteran (since that was my idea, kinda) and continue to be part of the general community when I have free time.
Anyways - It has been a blast. I will always thank Neowin. It helped shape a large part of who I am — both online and offline. This site has altered the lives of so many people in so many ways. Even me. I will always have mad love for Neowin. The Staff, the Members, and yes… even the Haters.
Do take care of each other. I will see you around. It has been a blast.
THANK YOU NEOWIN!
Respect!
