My buddy J and I went to the GWAR show downtown in DC at the 930 Club on Thursday night. They were performing with a couple of kick ass bands — Mensrea & 3 Inches of Blood. I have seen 3 Inches a couple of times now and they kick ass live. They had to recruit a new drummer for this tour because the last guy did some stupid shit and got kicked out. He did a nice job. We got to meet the bands after each of their sets. They were all pretty awesome.

Apparently, while on their way to DC, a slave that performs most of the “stage show” for the band while they do their act, hand painted a used drum head and was planning to put it on sale in the merchandise booth at the club. They have done a few of these pieces for the tour. I had to have this piece. It is one of a kind. And it was practically free. MUAHAHA. (I love free money!!)

We drove home today. It took just over 12 hours, and about 825 miles. Not bad… I actually drove for 544 STRAIGHT miles on the way home, the most I have driven in one sitting. We stopped for gas, of course… but I sat for just shy of 7 hours. Weeee.

It was great to get away, but I am soooo glad to be home.

At the bar the other night, my friend Dave introduced me to a new Jagermeister drink named the “Barrel Bomb.” Similar to the “Jagerbomb” or the “Carbomb”, a shot of liquor is dropped into a glass filled with a different liquid. In this case, a shot of Jagermeister is dropped into a half-glass of root beer.

That shit is taaasty. Give it a try when you can. Barq’s is the best!

This has been one of the more fun Summers that I have had in a long while. I am pretty happy about that. Lots of good metal shows. Lots of good hanging out. Time for it to close out and move on to Autumn, which might be my favorite season of them all.

I was watching the XGames and I saw this happen. This dude hit a nice 720 on the largest ramp I have ever seen… and at the end he hit the other vert ramp and lost his board. He fell at least 50 feet. Check out this shit!

There is a funny skit that Dane Cook says where he saw a guy get hit by a car and the dude lost his shoes. As soon as I heard the announcers talking about how his shoes flew off, I immediately BUSTED into laughter. Sucks the dude fell, but good to see him walking. I bet he is one sore mofo this morning though.

Damn! What a kick-ass weekend. It all started on Friday when my girl and I hooked up with my sister and her boyfriend. We got some dinner and had a few drinks before Paige and I left to try and get some sleep for our big Saturday.

We woke up early Saturday morning and got ready to attend the annual running of the Virginia Gold Cup horse races that occur in our area. We hit the road and met up with her bestest girlfriends and packed the truck. Then we hit the road…

Finally got a piece of ink done that is not on my upper body. To commemorate one of my favorite metal bands, Pantera, I got one of their logos on my right ankle.

What can I say. I got the chance to see Slayer and Unearth two nights in a row last week and it was fucking bonkers. The 930 club was absolutely packed each night and it was awesome. Read em and weep sucka!
