And its only Wednesday. Monday was kewl until the afternoon time. I pretty much acted like an idiot, ran my mouth like a whore in confesssion, and didn’t get shit done. Then yesterday was one of the worst days I have had in a while. Had to run around like a maniac getting some executive orders done. I felt like a dick for not talking to her. I just didn’t know what to say. I wanted to crawl into a hole and die. To make matters worse she probly hates me for thinking that I was trying to avoid her.

Didn’t get any sleep last night. Don’t know how I’m gonna make it through today, or the rest of the week for that matter. I just want to run away and not look back. Why do I always manage to fuck up good situations?

Which is why I got to play on Saturday with my friends. We went to the Bob Marley Reggae Roots fest up in Baltimore Maryland. It was real neat. The pavillion sat right on Pier6. We could see lots of water, boats, neat scenery and got lots of breeze. We had lawn seats so the Sun was pretty bad but the big awesome clouds came to bully the Sun away and save us.

I have not seen live Reggae much so this was a new experience for me. It was hella kewl. I had a blast. There were lots of chill people and we met a few of the musicians from the different bands. We ended up hanging out for the entire afternoon. We missed the first few bands but caught Soja, Barrington Levy, Ziggy Marley (acoustic set, YAY) & Stephen Marley. Damien came out to do some songs as well. It was really awesome. I gotta admit, they really had the crowd into it and they were very talented musicians.

Being the white-guy-that-cant-dance that I am, I learned a few moves from the back-up singers. They had some moves! So I dedided to dance around like an idiot for a bit and enjoyed myself. This kid passed out on the lawn so we totally fucked with him. I got a picture standing over him where it looks like im squashing his head. HAHA. Fun times.

We scooted down into the Pavillion to catch the rest of Stephen and Damien. It was pretty sweet. Got lots of good pictures. Met a few kewl dudes and dudettes. It was a lot more lively down there. Everybody was moving, singing, having a good time. After the show, we made our way back to the car and had a nice ride home. Such a fun day. I needed it bad. Especially cuz I saw this huge black cloud coming my way.

I ended up working from 9:30 am to 1 am yesterday to complete the project I have been chugging on at work. I knew I was going to have to bust my ass to get it done. The page is looking really sharp. It is one of the most fun builds I have done in a while. I took extra time to really make sure that it is as solid as it can be. Think I got most of it nailed. We will have to wait to see what QA has to say about it. I cannot wait to get it done though… meet my new VP, please my business/product team like whoa, and then get the fuck out of dodge for my uber 2 week vacation!

Wow. What a week. Aside from all the craziness at work, my week included kickball fun time, work happy hours, PI happy hours, and a lil bit of rock band. I have been busting my ass at work on this latest project. It might be the most important thing that we do all year in the Autos group. I have to get it done before I roll out for vacation next week.

Monday was insane. I barely got anything done. People kept bothering me and distracting me. I don’t mind a few people but when everyone comes at me its a bit overwhelming. Tuesday rocked. We played kickball. Our team has not won a game all season (maybe 10 games) but we came out on fire and kicked some ass. We played really well. The first game was tied and went to extra innings. I got the chance to kick with runners on base and drove the winning run in! We won our first game of the season, 3-2. We destroyed in the second game and won 5-0. Woop woop!

The rest of my week was crazy. Too many meetings, early meetings… BAH. Luckily we got to have fun time at Bungalows Wed and Clydes Thur. Not sure what I would do without my work friends. They help keep me sane, and are so fun to hang out with. Thank goodness for them. Especially a select few of them.

About to head off the a Reggae Roots show with the Marley brothers and some others. Should be a fun time. I get to have some down time before I get heads down for the rest of the weekend on my project. Weee. At least my head will not go down like this… HEHE

Aug 1 Solar Eclipse

Wow. What the fuck. That was crazy. I mean, Mondays are usually eventful… lots of meetings at work, going home and being bored… but today was the best Monday ever. Aside from the lame meetings, anyways. I had to get to work early for my weekly video meeting. My thing the past few weeks has been Karate Bagels on my Monday. (For those of you who don’t know - the local bagel shop had a very similar sign to the Karate dojo next door and it looked like there was a store named “Karate Bagels”) They make a very yummy bagel. MMM.

I got to work and walked to my telesuites meeting from my desk. My man Sean holds it down during that meeting. Its awesome. We did our thing and afterwards I walked to my desk and rocked out on the iPod. The day was pretty un-eventful, but I did manage to give a good demo of my channel template at 2. My manager even decided to show up which was kewl. After that, my day was going well. Until….

I went outside at 4 to get some sun and kinda take a break from the hectic day. There is nice courtyard right outside our offices so I decided to stroll down there and chill. It was kewl for about 2 minutes. Then I got fucking stung by a wasp. I was just minding my own business then BAM - that motherfucker got me on the left thumb. It hurt pretty bad at first, but luckily - my fellow dev lead was very versed in taking care of stings and other bug bites.

She gave me a kewl hint involving Aspirin that has totally made my hand feel better. Its pretty rad. I still can’t believe that thing. Its like the bugs had it out for us developers! F U BUGS! Stay in software where you don’t fucking sting us!

After work, I drove up to Baltimore to catch a show at Rams Head. Incite, Bury Your Dead, Throwdown, Dillinger Escape Plan, Cavalera Conspiracy. I went alone but the show was full of kewl peeps. I met a few couples and had some good times with them. Wathched all the bands, and towards the end of CC set I went down towards the sound guy, like I normally do.

During the outro, he looked towards me, and I pointed at the setlist. He gave it to me. I was stoked. But some even kewler shit was about to happen. There are two exits out of RHL and I always go out the way closest to the buses. FUCK YEAH! No sooner did I open the door and turn to my right… who was walking up the street. FUCKING MAX! Max is one of my metal idols. He always has been. I got to show him my tattoos related to his bands and give him a hug (no homo) and a big hand shake! He signed the setlist and disappeared onto his bus.

I’m not sure anyone else got to see him or get his signature, but I did. That was fucking awesome! FUCK a wasp. FUCK monday. I conquered it! MUAHAHAHAHA! I just hope I can get to sleep now.

I have been bored as hell today and have been dreading the upcoming week. If this past week was any indication, the next 2 weeks are gonna be hell before I peace the fuck out for vacation. I’m hoping to finally get some face time with my manager after practically begging him to chat with me. There are so many things wrong with my team right now… its really dis-heartening. I still have hope though. A couple of us deserve better and I’ll be damned if we don’t get it!

I am supposed to give a big demo at work tomorrow and an even bigger one on Wednesday. I really hope that I don’t fuck up. The Wednesday one has me kinda nervous. The CTO will be there. Zoinks yo. I should do fine though once I get in my comfort zone. Basically, I just need to man up and not be a big wuss. I’m not used to all of the exposure that I have been getting lately on some levels.

I get to see Cavalera Conspiracy tomorrow night up in Balitmore. Not looking forward to going alone, but it is what it is. I do not wanna miss the show. There should be a couple of work happy hours this week. YAY. Sux that Ale is leaving, but it will be better for him. Looking forward to sending him off proper! I also get to see the Marley Brothers next weekend. That should be a fun one. I really enjoy live Reggae. Gonna be a good crowd making the trek. We are talking about getting a party bus! Muahaha. That would rock!

I cannot wait to get the fuck out of VA. Going to Florida is gonna be nice. I really need to get away. This year has been crazy, and I really am hoping that my vacation could be the start of the rest of the year actually going my way. Who knows, maybe I’ll actually find what I have been looking for… Just gotta finish my most hectic project at work in a while, and then I can GTFO!

BRING IT!

Wow. Super super fucking fun night! So I mentioned getting tickets to the advance showing of the new Batman movie, the Dark Knight. Knowing we had a crew of people going to see the flick we set out of work early (hey! - we deserve it!) on a pre-movie adventure. Sure, we might have taken a wrong turn (whoops) but we made it before everyone else. Sat down, ordered some drinks and by the time we were half way done, Mark and Krysta showed up. Then Libby, then Ann, then Andrea. Yay meeting new people.

Got more drinks, moved to a table and ordered some grub. Luckily, Krysta had a friend in the restaurant that had gotten a work email saying they had to change the venue for the showing. FUCK! So we are on the other side of the county and find this important nugget of information out about 10 minutes after six. Mind you, were supposed to be at the theater to get tickets at 6:30. So we gotta bust arses now. BOO! Seriously, how do you muff that one? FUUUMBLE!!!

Scarf down the meals, get doggie bags for any leftovers, and peaced the fuck out!!! We flew down LCP and got to the other theater at about 10 minutes to 7. They had the movie showing in two auditoriums to fit all of the peeps that reserved spots. I was really trying to have my boy Sean chill with us, but he was in the other joint, and they actually started before we did. At least they could fit all of the people that got tickets, and did not botch anything else. But we made it, saw the previews and all that shiat. That matters the most! The best preview was for ‘Tropic Thunder‘ which looks fucking hiiilarious!

The Dark Knight was pretty insane from the get go. The late Heath Ledger NAILED the Joker role and played one of the most creepy & psychotic roles I’ve seen. Shame he had to go. This really turned me into a fan of his acting skills. Lots of shit blowing up, lots of action, neat guns, fucking wicked Batmobile… the plot was pretty neat also. I had a few favorite parts but without giving anything away, if you see it - the scene with the pencil is great. Two face looked twisted. Also, I hear that they used a real paddy wagon & eighteen wheeler on that one part. Zoinks yo.

I like the Batman series the most I think. He doesn’t have time to get all caught up in love with the leading lady ‘n shit. I mean, he was - but not like Spidey would be. BLECH. He’s a PIMP in the making by day, and a badass outlaw hero by night that noone can take down. He has 007-like gadgets but is just way more brutal. Bond wishes he could hand it out like the Bman.

I also think I found my next halloween costume. HAHA. The Joker nurse outfit is an instant classic. I do not get out to many movies, but am really glad that I did not miss out on this one. Shit, I got to see it before lots of other peeps. Does that make me super kewl? Somehow doubt it, but a boy can pretend.

Now I get to look forward to Cavalera Conspiracy on 21st and Reggae Fest with the Marleys on the 26th. Talk about action! It’s just what we do. Rock Out!

Its nearly 12:30 and… I’m working. Yeah — its because I took a break earlier, and because I’m dedicated, but I have a really crazy projeck (mocking someone at work) due before I bounce for the sunny beaches of Florida. It would help if there was not a ton of construction going on near us and the fact that random strangers are attacking my fellow dev lead. We almost had to bust out the big guns and go off on them with a water pistol and rubber band/other random office supply thrusting activities. They clearly had it out for her. We can’t have any of that!

There are other distractions at work too that are not as easy to wash out by blasting heavy metal music and acting like an idiot by head-banging and pretend moshing at your desk. I find them pleasant however, and wish they would occur more frequently throughout my day. Even though there is a bunch of shit wrong at work, some of it is right. And that drives me to do better. It will be mine. ALL MINE!! MUAHAHAHAHA!@#!

If I could think straight I would finish my notes and go to bed because I have to be up for my silly 8 am. Thinking has become difficult lately. I kinda feel like I’m stuck in a loop. Where is my reset button?

At least I get to see Batman later today and hang out with my kickass co-workers. Hooray for free advance screenings to awesome movies. Hooray for awesome co-workers. Hooray beer.
