What a strange, long trip its been.

According to my little counter widget - today is my 10,000th day alive on the Planet Earth ~ roughly 27.5 years. Cooky. I have seen some kewl things, met some kewl peeps & gotta say that I’m pretty pleased so far. HEHE.

Here’s to 10,000 more!

One of the funniest people I have ever known lost his life yesterday. George Carlin always made me laugh. His black comedy and political puns were the best. I remember his HBO stand-up specials and how we used to memorize all of the jokes and walk around cussing all the time. Hell, I think I use at least 4 of the 7 dirty words on a daily basis. Shame that he had to go, but he will always be remembered as one of the best!

Carlin’s themes have been known for causing considerable controversy in the general media. His most usual topic was (in his words) humanity’s “bullshit”, which might include murder, genocide, war, rape, corruption, religion and other aspects of human civilization. His delivery frequently treated these subjects in a misanthropic and nihilistic fashion, such as in his statement during the Life is Worth Losing show: “I look at it this way… For centuries now, man has done everything he can to destroy, defile, and interfere with nature: clear-cutting forests, strip-mining mountains, poisoning the atmosphere, over-fishing the oceans, polluting the rivers and lakes, destroying wetlands and aquifers… so when nature strikes back, and smacks him on the head and kicks him in the nuts, I enjoy that. I have absolutely no sympathy for human beings whatsoever. None. And no matter what kind of problem humans are facing, whether it’s natural or man-made, I always hope it gets worse.”

RIP George.

Firefox 3.0 was released today. I have been using this browser since version 0.3, when it was known as Phoenix. With each release it has gotten better and better, but this version is just simply awesome. As a mac user, I finally feel that I have an outright choice as my default browser - with many to choose from [Firefox, Camino, Safari & other 'Webkit' flavors.]

The new browser is so zippy. Everything feels a lot more fluid. The memory usage has been optimized greatly. The new UI/GFX layer is stunning. The new location bar makes it a lot easier to visit frequently checked sites. The bookmark management (Places) leaves little to be desired.

The Mozilla team is attempting to break a world record for the most software downloads in a single 24 hour period. As of 18:00 PDT on June 17th, Firefox 3 has been downloaded more than 2.6 million times.

GOOOOOO GET FIREFOX!
